Year In Review

This morning I got up and took a long, hot shower. It felt wonderful. I must’ve slept funny last night because my neck was all wacko this morning. I did several invoices for Marshall, ran a few errands and came back home and waited for Marshall to get home.

Marshall is taking me to see a little camper that he’s considering buying. It’s an older one but it’s supposed to be in really good shape and I think we’re going to get it. We’re both very excited about it.

We’re headed to Logan’s to eat and then we’re going to our friend Dawnia’s for a New Year’s Eve get-together. It’s going to be a small get-together but I look forward to seeing some old friends. :)

Happy New Year! Stay safe!

I thought I’d do a “Year In Review” but mostly for my benefit. I print my blogs off and save them as my diary so this is really for me. :)

January
January found us starting the new year with a couple of our best friends in a cabin near Helen, Ga. We all had a super time. It was a great way to end the old year and begin the new one. We also spent some time on Tybee Island with Brooke (since she lives near there for school). I also went to the chiropractor for the first time in my life. How exciting is that?! My mom also moved in with us.

February
February started off with a nice ground-covering snow. It didn’t last long, but at least it was snow. :) Marshall’s new business was officially launched and really started taking off. Marshall and I spent some time in Cherokee, NC and I got to see a lot of snow. I got to see Lyle Lovett at the Tivoli with a few of my close buddies. It was a great concert.

March
I turned 38 (gasp!). Cain received several letters from colleges about football. We spent some time on Tybee Island with our buddies E&D, even got to see a parade! Brooke’s car engine blew up around that same time. :( I was sick with what I imagine was the flu for over a week. It was awful. I helped Kandi shoot a wedding, which was my first. And sadly, two of our best friends split up, sending our little group of buddies into a state of shock. And Brooke is home for a brief visit at the end of the month. :)

April
I got to take photos for the newspaper I worked for of a cop under arrest for false statements in a disappearance of a local 911 operator. That was pretty cool (that I got to take photos, not the missing lady). Scout.com wrote a good little story on Cain and his football abilities, which led to a bit of exposure for Cain. We spent time at MTSU so Cain could check out their campus. Frost killed all of my spring blooms. :( Marshall and I celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary with a weekend trip to Warm Springs, Ga. Marshall left for a several-week job in Arkansas.

May
My Mom moved out. Yay! ;) I did some major cleaning and got rid of a bunch of junk in my house. One of my closest friends and co-workers, Chrisi, got a new job and left the newspaper. Waah! I sold ONE photo for $75 to the city that I live in. :) I got an ipod nano for Mother’s Day. I joined the gym (wish I had been going regularly all this time!). Cain went to his junior prom. :) Marshall finally got home from his Arkansas job. I made my first pineapple upside down cake. Marshall loved it. I “made” a free $50 for merely listening to my local classic rock station (KZ-106) and calling in when they called out my name on air.

June
I got my sweet angel dumplin’ Lucy. :) Cain went to football camp at MTSU and Vanderbilt. My mother did a foolish thing and once again tore the family to pieces. :( Drought, drought, drought. Went to Arkansas with Marshall, turned in my notice at work and left my job! Brooke came home for a visit. I bought a bike. :)

July
We took a family vacation to Jekyll Island, Georgia, our first trip there. I swam in the ocean for the first time since Jaws came out (seriously). Met with an old school friend who I hadn’t seen in 20 years, that was great. :) Got my Canon 30D and the 70-200mm IS lens; had to sell a kidney. ;) Rain, yay! Cain started his senior year of high school. Waah!

August
My Doodle turned 41. Kandi and I went and visited with Brooke in south Georgia but it was miserably hot and I was miserably sick. It was an awful trip. :( Cain got a pre-season honorable mention as an All-State player for football AND was chosen as one of the top 19 safeties in ALL of Georgia. Went to see Michael Buble at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. What a delight! Started getting photos ready for the New Salem Mtn. Festival. The seed tick incident. *gag* Cain starts his last season as a high school football player. :( Listening to nothing other than Christmas music. :)

September
Family reunion time with Marshall’s family! :) Marshall headed to Indiana and Kandi and I headed to Destin, Fla. for a photo shoot. I hit a big buck on the way home from one of Cain’s ballgames but luckily there was hardly any damage to my car, don’t know if the same is true for the buck. Started mending the bridge between my mother and myself. We started making small home improvements; ceiling fans and security lights, & a bit of painting. Fall festivals begin, yay! Cain was chosen as Mr. THS at his high school. We loved having the “football boys” over on Thursday nights before the game. Planted spider lilies in my front yard. :)

October
Brooke has an assistant coaching job with a basketball team at a high school near her home. Day trip to Burt’s Farm! Yay! One year anniversary of the passing of my beloved maternal grandmother. A fantastic trip to Helen, Ga. for a couple of days–it was terrific! A new back porch and deck! Woo hoo! I made $500 by selling my photos at the New Salem Mtn. Festival. :) Lots of cookouts for the football team on Thursdays. Brookie came home for a visit. Yearly photo shoot visit to Rising Fawn with my buddy Kandi. Georgia Apple Festival!

November
My “baby” turns 18! Fun trip to Rock Town on Pigeon Mountain with my Daddy. Our last cookout for the football team, and Cain’s last football game as a high schooler. Rough month, this one, very emotional, especially on Senior Night. A trip to Coastal Carolina so Cain could visit their campus and football team. Visited Myrtle Beach during that same trip. My sweet Lucy went to the vet to be fixed. :( Thanksgiving at my house with Brooke, my grandfather, my mom, brother, and nephew all joining us. :) The tree goes up. Yay!

December
My sweet daughter turns (oh….my….gosh!) TWENTY ONE! I went hunting with Marshall and had a great time being out in the woods. Got my first apron from my friend Chasity and I use the soup out of it. :) Made a delicious baked ziti from scratch. Brooke is home for about a month. Yay! I got to build a bear that I adore at Build-A-Bear. :) Shopping! Christmas with the Penningtons! Christmas with the Smiths! Good food, great family gatherings. Christmas Eve at Marshall’s parents house–lots of laughter. Yay, I got a MacBook! The best time of the year for sure!

What does this next year have in store? Who knows, but I hope its as good as 2007!

  1. That is the best pic of ya’ll ever! Love it! Your eyes are so pretty!

Thank you darling, thank you. I love you. I’m so glad I was a part of your year, even if we did have some hard months. Those are over now. Now, where did we put that lifestyle?
